Artworks

Art is integral to my identity. Throughout my life I have constantly been drawn to the act of artistic creation.

Here are some of my most proud works.

My final piece for my 15 hour A-Level exam. Oil paint on Canvas.

With the examination of the theme ‘Variation and Similarity’, I explored the concept of love and how it has no limitations in my family despite the differences we posses. My sister, being adopted from Thailand, became the focus of my artwork. Despite the differences of her ethnicity, our love for her remains unbiased. Water reinforces a sense of harmony for my family and society on a grander scale. It is an essential element of life, it composes seventy procent of us. Thus water symbolises the unity of mankind, how we are all equal despite our differences.

My three compositions, each a staggering 120x180, explores the theme of ‘Personal Identity’ through which I analysed the pressures society inflicts upon the youth of today.

A striking reality is brought forth through the disturbing images of the scars and distortions created upon my face, visually exemplifying the anxieties of our community.

A sense of hope is radiated through canvas, the vibrant colour scheme and flora holding positive connotations of love and joy. The centrepiece of the tryptic contains gold leaf, and metaphorical commentary on the valuable importance of identity.

The aim of this piece was to raise awareness and establish a greater understanding of the effects of social pressures on young minds.

I analysed the theme of legacy through my ancestral home ‘Stockis’, a house in which my family has stored memories of my ancestors for generations.

The piece also looks towards the future, and who is to resume responsibility of maintaining Stockis. Aquarius and Taurus star signs extend across the canvas, the zodiacs of my siblings and I, indicating our responsibility to continue and maintain the family legacy.
